He would have chosen lucrative Chartered Accountancy profession and made huge money. But he took a brave decision to switch to the technology field with an aim to open the doors of world class technologies to the masses. When he looks at successful venture that gives competition to MNCs, Limesh Parekh, CEO of Enjay IT Solutions Limited feels proud of making a right choice at a crucial stage of his life.
Shaping up of Enjay
Limesh started his entrepreneurial journey in a small town in Gujarat. Hailed from a Vapi based typical traditional Gujarati joint family, Limesh had been always passionate to do something different for community benefit. Fascinated by the technological innovations, Limesh decided to say “Good Bye” to Chartered Accountancy, merely two weeks before his final CA exam, and joined NIIT.
The idea of Enjay Computer Consultancy (later became Enjay IT Solutions) developed by Limesh and his three business partners in 1994. Very soon he realized that innovation was the only way to sustain the business.
“We struggled during initial years and focused more on Networking, doing work on Windows NT and Novel Net-ware till 1198. In 1998, we came up with remote booting Windows 95 over ISA cards and then PCI cards, which was unique and useful and also it saved a lot of money for our clients. That was the first innovation by Enjay and it was a big hit”, recalls Limesh.
However, the problem with remote booting was that it was a service and not a product. Therefore, it was not scalable as a business Model for Limesh and his team.
‘Card wala’ got acceptance
The turning point came in 2002 when Enjay came up with a Thin Client card which enabled the company to scale and prosper. The laudable thing was that there were 40 thin client card vendors in India at that point of time and Enjay used to sell more than the combined sales of all of them.
“We did not want to decay with any one particular product category, therefore, we launched Thin Client PCs and various models in that segment. In 2007-08, we started to feel need to diversify and grow in different segments, hence we started working on CRM, telephony, Storage, firewall and employee monitoring solutions”, he says.
The dream came true in late 2013, when Enjay launched Enjay Tiguin Linux, which was thoroughly tested in the Tally environment by Tally Solutions Ltd.
“There is always a huge gap in cutting edge technology and technology that general people use. I am passionate about filling that up. Enjay IT Solutions are helping SME companies to run Windows software on Linux, including Tally on Linux. It is helping people to optimize licensing cost by using Linux”, Limesh says.
A true Rural Manufacturer
Limesh is truly giving justice to not only “Make in India” but “Make in Rural India.” In a very short period Enjay has achieved high growth from a small family start up to a 100+ team with revenue ranging in the several crore of rupees. Enjay launched Enjay mini PC in 2006. It launched CRM, telephony and storage solutions in 2009 and subsequently launched Enjay Tiguin in December 2013. The company started to work on Cloud technologies in early 2014, and launched CRM on cloud and Tally on a Cloud.
Enjay has recently launched Thin Client Enjay Proton, which is indigenously developed and manufactured in India. The company is ready with its telephony on cloud solution, and it is scheduled to be released by June end.
Limesh who believes in following a dreams says, “With this launch, we will be able to provide end to end solution to customer with his CRM, Tally and telephony all hosted on our cloud and all integrated in one piece and bound together.”
Hailed from a traditional Gujarati joint family, convincing to his parents about his passion was not an easy task for Limesh. But his father believed in his idea and extended his support to his efforts. Limesh who consider his father a great contributor in his successful career, says that family support and co-operation plays significant role in shaping up of one’s career.
“My family has always been with me, Limesh Parekh is the face of my family, you see me, but actually it’s my entire family performing for me”, Limesh admits humbly.
Limesh is proud of taking a decision to enter in the IT field. He is now enjoying the fruits of his hard work and dedication. “My friends say that if I would have completed CA, I would have been doing something good. But I am still doing something great, every day”, Limesh smiles.
Gandhi, Narendra Modi, Amitabh Bachchan and Steve Jobs give an inspiration to Limesh and encourage him to take his strengths to the next level.
Aspire to become Number 1
Limesh and his team have very aggressive growth plans for Enjay, but he personally wants to build Enjay as an organization which can grow itself.
“We want to be major a cloud player in fields of Tally+CRM+Telephony on a cloud. We have recently started making of Thin Clients and Mini Computers, we want to become no.1 in that domain. We are also planning to have strategic partnership with people who can bring in financial resources and experience”, he says.
