Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL),
one of the India's largest telecommunications service providers, has
entered into a strategic alliance with Datacraft Asia, a provider of
IT services and solutions, to provide datacenter services in India.
The agreement will see Datacraft build, operate and manage - six
strategic datacentres across the country for BSNL. The datacenters
will feature exceptional capacity for future expansion, optimal
power, cooling and IT systems and are designed as fully redundant
infrastructure. BSNL and Datacraft will jointly sell the managed
hosted and cloud 'IT as a Service' from these facilities under the
brand 'onecloud.'
Powered by BSNL and managed by
Datacraft, the datacenters will feature world class facilities,
connectivity and manageability. The cutting-edge technologies will
provide a comprehensive portfolio of highly secure, scalable and
green datacenter solutions. Covering a vast datacenter area of 66,000
square feet, these six datacenters are inter-connected with
point-to-point Ethernet tunnels that can deliver unprecedented levels
of high speed connectivity and low latency. The datacenters are
strategically located in Jaipur, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Ludhiana,
Ghaziabad and Faridabad.
“We are delighted to announce this
partnership with Datacraft," said Gopal Das, CMD of BSNL.
"Datacraft's global strength and strategic capabilities will
enable us to build new strategic IT capabilities to capture growth
opportunities of datacenters and connectivity. Our clients from the
Government, public sector and banks can now undertake datacenter
transformation services-using our flexible sourcing options or
simply host their entire IT assets within our secure datacenters with
complete peace of mind at a very competitive cost.”
Rajesh Wadhwa, Director, CFA BSNL Board
said; “The availability of our BSNL datacenters provides an ideal
mechanism for Central and State Governments looking to set up
datacenters. This mechanism will speed up the implementation of their
social programmes where IT and datacenters are required. Government
departments can outsource their entire datacentre needs to BSNL. BSNL
will in turn manage their IT requirements so that departments can
focus more on field activities rather than to deal with managing
datacenters which requires specialised skill sets.”
“We are proud to be associated with
BSNL," said Dilip Kumar, COO, Datacraft Asia. "BSNL
evaluated a number of companies before choosing Datacraft for our
differentiated and unique datacenter optimisation services to offer
business continuity, disaster recovery and secure remote access
services. This strategic alliance will position us as the leader in
secure hosted and cloud data center facilities in India-with a
comprehensive range of cloud and hosted services particularly for the
government and public sectors."
“Onecloud'' hosted and cloud
services will be rolled out in several phases and will entail:
BSNL Managed Co-location
Services-provides exceptional space for future expansion with
optimal power and cooling systems along with fully redundant
infrastructure. Our facilities will provide wide array of custom
build rack areas for different business needs. Clients will have full
control of the operating capabilities and device control but without
the risks, responsibilities and inconveniences of managing the
facility.
BSNL Dedicated Hosting Services
provides clients with powerful compute, storage space and networking
capacity with state-of-the-art cooling and power densities. Sometimes
referred to as Private/Enterprise Cloud, this is a dedicated hardware
environment (pooled resources) with a virtualisation layer
running on top, allowing clients to create and manage multiple
virtual servers within a set of physical servers. Our facilities will
provide dedicated environment for the client with full operational
manageability.
