Earlier, CMDA had joined other channel associations in the demand for exclusion of E-commerce platforms selling the IT products. Now, its President Puneet Singhal has sent a letter to the Ministry of Home Affairs to include the sale of IT products as essential goods. He argues that IT products are used in many essential sectors. Following is the text of his letter -
Respected Sh Amit Shahji,
The Hon’ble Home Minister ,
Govt of India, North Block, New Delhi.
Subject- Inclusion of IT Consumables & Accessories etc in Essential Category during Lock Down Situations
Sir,
We are presently representing the Entire Trade of IT Consumables & Accessories etc of the Country through the most effective PAN India IT Association CMDA Delhi(Regd) requesting that the IT related Computer Consumables and Accessories etc be classified as essential items to enable us to Cater to the Operational day to day needs of the Deptts like the Working Govt Deptts of the Centre or the State or the Police Deptts/ the Health Services etc which are finding it extremely tough to function in the absence of the availability of the IT Consumables and Accessories.
Currently during the Lock Down our Trade Partners who are essentially from the MSME Segment are receiving frantic Calls/Orders from many such above mentioned Deptts directly or through the Govt GEM Portal with us being not able to oblige them at present.
Also the permitted private sector Essential Services too are getting stuck more than Often in the absence of these items.
The students studying from Home are also getting held up owing to the Non Availability of these items.
In the light of the above it is requested that this extremely Important Category be included in the list of the essential items in the lockdown Situations.
Hoping to be considered favorably.
For CMDA-Delhi (Regd)
Puneet Singhal
President, CMDA
