Established in 1993, Computer & Media Dealers Association, popularly known as CMDA-Pune, is the most respected IT associations in India. CMDA is the first ISO 9001:2008 Certified IT trade association.
Strengths of CMDA
CMDA-Pune is an association of more than 375 dynamic IT entrepreneurs in Pune, working together for the betterment of IT trade community and consumers. Its esteemed members include Dealers, Distributors, System Integrators, Service Providers and Vendors. Almost 90 percent of computer hardware and consumables business in Pune and Pimpari Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is controlled by CMDA members.
CMDA functions in a very professional and structured manner and its working is governed by-law. The association conducts ISO Audit every year. It has well equipped back office with all communication facilities and professional staff to execute various projects. CMDA has drafted standard HR policies for all its members.
Major Achievements
CMDA is actively involved in various government representations. CMDA was instrumental in dropping VAT from 12.5% to 5% of software paper licenses. Its proper and logical representation to Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) helped to reduce Octroi on computer parts which in turn helped whole community.
Emphasis on Technology Awareness
The biggest attribute to CMDA Pune is that the association places lots of emphasis on education of partners as well as citizens. Through its flagship event ‘CMDA IT Expo’, the association provides a knowledge sharing platform for all. CMDA also organizes various technical seminars on the latest trends and happenings in the technology field to update and upgrade people. The association has its own library for members which has a unique collection of books on various topics covering technology, management and biographies.
For last consecutive 17 years, CMDA has been conducting an IT Exhibition in Pune. Over 100 participants comprising of all major IT vendors, CMDA members and even many non members participate in this mega event. More than 50 Thousand visitors visit this 4 day long technology show. The biggest highlight point of IT expo is CIO conference where invites allCIO’s, IT heads from the corporate world and conduct a special seminar to highlight new trends in various technologies.
Major Initiatives
CMDA is committed to the overall development of IT in the city. The association has taken various initiatives to encourage healthy relations among various stakeholders in the channel. CMDA has come up with a unique concept of BI (Business Improvement) forum which addresses all issues with principle companies, vendors, service related issues. The association has formulated standard procedures and practices for dealing with all national distributors and major vendors. This has helped to reduce a lot of inconvenience and disputes amongst the community. CMDA has a separate Arbitration Committee to solve warranty issues. It addresses various arbitrations amongst members, distributors and principal companies resolving their local issues.
Social responsibility
CMDA is actively involved in various social activities and thrives to work for social causes. The association not only helps members in business, but also takes care of their health. CMDA conducts free health checkup camps for members which covers major health tests and permanently tied up with hospitals for discount for members for such tests. The association donates Computers, Laptops & Computer Accessories to schools, NGO’s and Institutes who work for Physically Handicapped Children.
Banking on its professionalism and quality work, CMDA has gained confidence of its members and also of many other business houses through its active interest in working with positive spirit and supporting and promoting ethical business and trade practices. The association thrives to provide a platform for various stakeholders of the Channel to address their common problems.
