COMPASS: From being localized to being nationalized

Being on its 17th year Eastern India’s COMPASS (Computer Association of Eastern India) has been addressing the channel partners and dealers of the region with rapt enthusaism. With major focus in the Bengal market, the association is one of the those who duly holds elections every years, assigns tasks to every elected member and remains active throughout the year on most issues surmounting the IT dealers’ trade.

Being on its 17th year  Eastern India’s COMPASS (Computer Association of Eastern India) has been addressing the channel partners and dealers of the region with rapt enthusaism. With major focus in the Bengal market, the association is one of the those who duly holds elections every years, assigns tasks to every elected member and remains active throughout the year on most issues surmounting the IT dealers’ trade. COMPASS  is all set to ll organize eastern region’s largest annual information technology fair – COMPASS 14-15 from February 13 to 16 (2015) at the Netaji Indoor Stadium & Khudiram Anushilan Kendra, Kolkata. The entry to the COMPASS 14-15 Tech Fair would be by invitation, tickets and free registration at the official website www.compassfair.in.

Pawan Jajodia, President of COMPASS, said, “COMPASS 14-15 Tech Fair has once again been shifted to the Netaji Indoor Stadium with Khudiram Anushilan Kendra, Kolkata following popular demand from the participants and the public. This year, The Tech Fair is supported by association partner NASSCOM and powered by CeBIT India, which is, for the first time, helping COMPASS organize a world-class paid seminar on the futuristic and hot topics like “Internet of Things” and “Cyber Security” on 16th of February, 2015. This year the Tech Fair’s focal theme would be Service, Solutions and Software.” The last two COMPASS Tech Fairs were held at the Milan Mela Grounds in Kolkata, but there has been an overwhelming demand to host it at the Netaji Indoor Stadium ever since.

“The COMPASS Mega Tech Fair is one of the most happening events in the eastern region. It provides a solid platform to big and small companies and industry to showcase their products. On the other side, the end-users get an excellent opportunity to familiarize themselves with the latest technology and trends in the IT sector. This year there would be 100 stalls and 20 pavilions and participation by leading brands like DELL (main sponsor), HP and AMD (co-sponsors) along with top international brands like Lenovo, Canon, Brother, Western Digital, Acer and others. This year COMPASS Tech Fair will have Rashi Peripherals, Ricoh, Transcend And Digisol as the associate sponsors,” said Sanjay Chhajer, Chairman-Exhibition Committee, COMPASS 14-15 – The Tech Fair. SITI DIGITAL and DQ-WEEK are the digital Cable TV and IT Channel Media partners respectively for the Tech Fair.

“We are also establishing a strong link between COMPASS and the colleges, leading knowledge and academic institutions of India and the top chambers of commerce. The target is to reach out and engage young students of schools and colleges to actively participate in the various seminars and competitions like inter-college quiz competition, gaming competition, short film competition and various workshops during the COMPASS Tech Fair. This year, the Indian Statistical Institute and Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur, would be participating for the first time at the Tech Fair,” said Prakash Agarwal, Secretary-COMPASS.

The Fair with witness seminars, inter college IT quiz , short film competition,  workshops on social marketing, Online Security, Digital Art, Photography and on other topics coordinated b Shiv Mohta. The idea is to familiarize the visitors with the mechanisms and impart knowledge about the gadgets and IT trends that rule our lives. Such initiatives portray the effort made by the association members to address the recent topics in the IT landscape , bring them to the forefront and transcend the merit of the association from being localized to being nationalized.
