This is high time for IT MSMEs to move online. Maharashtra government has declared that third wave of Corona may hit in 2-4 weeks. Death toll may double the 2nd wave and active cases may reach about 8 Lakhs. More than 10% are likely to be children.
Delta Plus variant is said to be the cause behind high number of cases in the third wave.
Government also said that attempts are being made to procure 42 Crore doses for the whole country, out of which Maharashtra will get its share.
It must be remembered that 42 Crore doses will mean that 21 Crores can be vaccinated, since one person has to get 2 doses. For a country of 1.5 Billion population, this is still short of supply.
Implications for IT MSMEs
IT MSMEs have faced hardships in the last two waves of Corona. Many of their community have lost dear ones. They have gone through a lot of trouble getting them treated and have faced shortage of medical facilities.
On top of all this, IT MSMEs have faced economic hardships because of lockdown as their offline stores have remained closed for most parts of the year. There is possibility of further lockdowns as a result of 3rd and possible future waves of Corona.
In these circumstances, IT MSMEs are advised to move online and continue doing business. They can join a popular WhatsApp or E-commerce platform where large volume of traffic is already flowing, so that they can get customers. Once the customer contacts them, they can deal with them directly.
Second, if the Indian market is in bad condition and if the Indian customers can't support them, they should export their goods and solutions.
Hardware products sellers are especially advised to move online, as continuing to sell hardware offline does not make sense anymore.
Solutions and service providers also should build a strong presence online where they can capture customers.
It is seen that under the influence of some leaders, IT MSMEs are resistant to the idea of moving online. It's high time for them to break this mindset and move online, if they don't want to perish.
