Customers are benefiting from this approach and the results are showing.”
Dell was awarded as the No. 1 storage supplier in the first half of 2014 based on total terabytes sold for internal and external storage, according to industry analyst firm International Data Corporation (IDC) data. In the Server space, it continued to display leadership in the x86 server market and maintained its No. 2 share position in the global x86 server market and retained the No. 1 share position in APJ as well, according to IDC data.2 Also, for the second straight quarter, Dell was the only major vendor to generate year-over-year growth in both rack and blade servers according to IDC data. In the networking space, Last year the company grew 3X the market globally (for data center and campus), adding more than 24,000 new customers.
Dell Software has also displayed leadership across its four focus areas of Information Management, Security, Data Protection and End to end software solutions. Dell Software registered double-digit revenue growth as the company continues to build out its global software business, with strength in security and information-management areas, including data analytics and enterprise application integration. Since the addition of software to the Dell PartnerDirect program a year ago, Dell Software’s channel-related revenue also experienced double-digit growth.
Dell’s leadership in these segments is a result of the renewed focus on channel and distribution that was announced earlier this year. Over the last year Dell announced tie-ups with national distributors such as Ingram Micro, Redington and Iris. This has expanded the strength of its reach to tier 2 and tier 3 locations across India.
In addition to this Dell announced recently new programs and incentives to drive customer and partner value. These included the Dell Storage Accelerator, Windows Server 2003 Migration Campaign, doubling of Investments in Demo Equipment, Doubling of Lead Generation Investments and Delivering Industry-Best Financing Terms.
