TOI had reported in its Sunday edition about the online process for licence renewal in the island city beginning from September 15. Tardeo RTO chief Govind Saindane said that citizens could now download RTO forms from http://mahatranscom.in/licence.aspx.
"From September 15, the saarthi website will be activated for online appointments for licence renewals and a host of new things. You can print out the appointment receipt and the forms and come to the RTO on the designated day at the specified time. It will be a transparent system and you don't have to interact with touts," Saindane explained.
From September 15, citizens will be able to do the following through online registrations at Tardeo RTO: Driving licence renewal, duplicate driving licence; change of address on licence, replacement of licence; change of name on licence; obtaining additional endorsement on driving licence; endorsement to drive hazardous materials and the issue of driving licence for international driving permit.
This new system will be replicated at the eastern and western suburban RTOs soon. At present, online registration is available only for new learner's licences and permanent driving licences.
