About the Technology and Its Benefits

To solve the problem of hazards caused due to the batteries and its waste, we at Aloe Ecell have created aloe-vera batteries that can power your remote controls, clocks, etc at a cheaper, durable and sustainable rate. These are 100% eco-friendly and 0% hazardous. We replaced the costly and hazardous chemicals of the battery with An evergreen and eco- friendly aloe vera which can generate a similar potential of 1.5V at a lesser and greener cost which is safe during use and also after disposal as it can be easily recycled or refilled. We have developed liquid batteries through herbal formulation. The Aloe Ecell product is futuristic renewable technology of acquous cell aloe vera based batteries of 1.5V which can be used to power your devices ranging from Low Drain i.e. remote controls, clocks, etc to high drain devices like cameras.

Current chemical-based batteries are hazardous, explosive and toxic causing pollution and diseases. Our herbal Aloe Ecell solution for the batteries provide clean and green energy to the devices and can be disposed of easily without brimming landfills and causing pollution. Aloe Ecell is an evolution in the era of primary batteries and provides various advantages-

No special segregation process is needed for the disposal so no landfills required

To environment -
Pressure levied on the Indian economy can be decreased by up to 78% saving approximately 109 Billion Dollars annually which is wasted in importing raw materials from different countries. Source of income for farmers growing Aloe Vera as 2 acres of land can yield a profit of 8400 USD per harvest.

71.6% Reduction in environmental pollution caused due to the usage of batteries (*battery University). 97% Reduction in Disease statistics caused due to usage of dry cell batteries. 89% reduction in usage of zinc used in batteries. Proper R & D can help us create mobile batteries leading to 70% removal of lithium-ion batteries accounting to Clean, Green and Safe rechargeable batteries.

How did you get into this field?

Being an environment-friendly person, I have always aspired to do something for my mother earth. On my Delhi trip last year, I noticed the Ghazipur landfill which is the largest landfill and generates 62Million metric tonnes of waste annually which is actually a huge amount. So, I decided to work and do something in the field of waste management. On further research, we got to know that 82% of these waste is e-waste out of which 78% is the dry cell batteries which are a major cause of landfills and various diseases like liver cirrhosis, pulmonary heart disease etc. We also got to know that 97% of the materials used in these batteries are imported from different countries levying a high pressure of more than 148 Billion Dollars on the Indian Economy which is a huge amount.
So, we had two alternatives - Either to employ an effective waste management technique or to change the legacy batteries. Waste management starts with 3 Rs i.e. reduce, reuse and recycle. So, we started with reduction and decided to reduce this waste by actually changing the legacy batteries.
We decided to search for an eco-friendly potential. In our mission of finding herbal electrolyte, we researched on 9+ organic products including Lemon, Potato, Orange, Apple etc but it was not feasible as it generated a few amounts of potential but even lesser current or was not appropriate for the electrolyte, by analysis many other issues faced on aspects of durability, economy, production were noticed. So, we researched and experimented on various plants like Paddy, Banana, Papaya etc but then got to know about Aloe Vera. So, we experimented with Aloe Vera gel. Its voltage ranged somewhere between 0.8-.9V though the potential was unstable at an initial stage but mixing it with few other constituents provided better sustainability.
We gave a few early prototypes to few users and received few feedbacks like drying of liquid, leakage issue etc. so we rectified it and are ready with a usable product aloe ecell. We did not receive any help in our research and development process from anywhere yet and are waiting for the same since we are students so we do not have enough funds to carry on research and development in this field.

Plan to take it to the market
Since this is a battery, so lots of certifications have to be taken off before taking this to the market. Moreover, it is an innovation so IP rights also need to be taken care of because of which we need to obtain 3 patents before commercializing it. So, we plan to spend 3-4 months on obtaining various certifications and complete RnD to make it market-ready because of which we are looking for grants up to 20 Lakhs or any related help. So, anyone willing to help us is heartily welcomed. After 4 months, we plan to get these cells manufactured and sell them to the end consumers with the help of retailers.

Plans to engage in similar innovations
Yes, being an environment lover, I am always open to these types of innovations. We have already started our research on version 2.0 of this and a few other products which will soon be revealed. I would also like to engage in similar research and would love to help or partner with the folks interested in this domain. In the near future, we're planning to evolve green batteries which can be used effectively for the IT products.
