Messe Berlin and the German Association for Entertainment and Communications Electronics (gfu), the two main hosts of the trade fair, organised the IFA Global Press Conference (GPC) for the first time in Asia on April 18, bringing together 380 technology reporters, bloggers and journalists from around the world.
The IFA event included a consumer electronics trade fair that presented the latest technologies and products for connected smart devices, drones, organic light-emitting diode (OLED) displays and 3 D printing this year, hinting at new opportunities for businesses worldwide.
The GPC was a gathering for industry executives to introduce new products they showcased at the exhibition in Shenzhen on April 20. Jens Heithecker, Director, IFA, Christian Goke, CEO, Messe Berlin and Hans-Joachim Kamp, Chairman, gfu's supervisory board focused on the key features of the IFA.
“Innovation is the keyword for growth and innovative products have been the driving force of the IFA during the last 90 years,” Kamp said."Consequently, the IFA has made a huge contribution to the positive development of diverse industrial sectors and enabled successful businesses."
IFA, which celebrated its 56th anniversary this year, is Europe's largest consumer electronics trade fair and one of the three biggest worldwide. The other two are the International Consumer Electronics Show (ICES) in Las Vegas and the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. IFA 2016 is scheduled to be held between September 2nd and 7th in Berlin. IFA Global Markets will only be open on four days, from the Sunday of IFA (4 September) to Wednesday (6th September).
As a global IFA event, CE China was a welcome addition to Berlin’s portfolio for the Chinese market and its opening event coincided with the annual IFA Global Press Conference (GPC), now in its tenth year.
The trade exhibit took place from 20th to 22nd April at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center. It offered Chinese and global brand manufacturers the opportunity to present their latest products and services to consumers and distributors.
Key partners of CE China included the Shenzhen Municipal Government, top Chinese distributors such as Suning and Alibaba, and IDG – China’s leading media group. Trade delegations from Europe, Japan and Korea, such as Rakuten, Hi-Mart, Euronics International and Expert International supported CE China and their representatives were also present during the event.
“CE China is based on the IFA exhibition in Berlin and has been organized under the sponsorship of the IFA hosts” said, Heithecker, Executive Director, IFA. "We are proud that Shenzhen's committee for economy, trade and information has partnered with such a global event.”
