IT giant IBM partners with Apple. The deal comes as an historic event as during the time of Steve Jobs, IBM and Apple were not in good terms. However, the deal is about enhancing the mobile technology capacity. IBM through its data analytics capability will provide business solutions to Apple.
For the first time ever, we're putting IBM's renowned big data analytics at iOS users' fingertips, which opens up a large market opportunity for Apple. This is a radical step for enterprise and something that only Apple and IBM can deliver," said Tim Cook, CEO, Apple.
IBM is getting into a big market because 98 % of the Fortune 500 and over 92 % of the Global 500 using Apple iOS devices in their business today.
As per the announcement made, both Apple and IBM will bring more than 100 industry-specific enterprise solutions including native apps, developed exclusively from the ground up, for iPhone and iPad.
This apart, IBM cloud services will be optimized for iOS, including device management, security, analytics and mobile integration.
As part of the exclusive IBM MobileFirst for iOS agreement, IBM will also sell iPhones and iPads with the industry-specific solutions to business clients worldwide.
BM Chairman and CEO Ginni Rometty said the move would mean "growth for both our companies, and this idea of remaking business and re-envisioning and reimagining professions is all about unlocking mobility in the enterprise."
iPhone and iPad already have worldwide users. The quality is also at par as compared to other manufacturers. Apple wanted to enter into enterprise arena which has been dominated by IBM for now nearly 60 years. This comes as a cause of worry for the already sinking BlackBerry which started as mobility for business users.
