Innovation, digital literacy on Intel agenda

Semiconductor chip maker Intel will be focusing on improving the levels of digital literacy and fostering the culture of innovation in India, according to Intel. Intel has already received over 1,000 entries for the challenge that will be open from April 2015 to January 2016. Intel will be working towards building a product portfolio of computing devices that are customized for the 'new needs' that will be seen in the Indian market in the coming days, especially in the non-urban areas.

Semiconductor chip maker Intel will be focusing on improving the levels of digital literacy and fostering the culture of innovation in India, according to Intel. Intel has already received over 1,000 entries for the challenge that will be open from April 2015 to January 2016. Intel will be working towards building a product portfolio of computing devices that are customized for the 'new needs' that will be seen in the Indian market in the coming days, especially in the non-urban areas.
"On the digital literacy front, we have already trained 4 million people and intend to train more. We also want to work towards building the culture of innovation for which we are working with various partners such as state governments," Debjani Ghosh, vice-president (sales and marketing group) and managing director, South Asia, Intel, said.   The company also called for for entries for the Intel & DST (Department of Science and Technology) `Innovate for Digital India Challenge'.

Meanwhile, former Union IT secretary and IT advisor to Andhra Pradesh, J Satyanarayana, said AP is planning to set up Centres of Excellence (CoEs) that will be attached to different universities in the state and requested Intel to be a partner in this initiative.
