How do you use your learning in your field to an advantage for your organisation?

Lekha - I have studied Engineering and we run an Engineering Consulting firm; hence my Engineering learnings are directly utilised technically in the work that we do. Further, my learnings at IIMB were all about Entrepreneurship, Leadership and my favorite, Leading with JOY. These learnings, along with guidance from my mentors, have tremendously helped me in my day to day, professionally and personally.

What are the challenges you face in this role? How do you resolve these challenges?

Lekha - I am a woman entrepreneur in a male dominated industry (Oil & Gas, Power, Chemicals) so that is one of the challenges in terms of market as well as employees. I don’t try to resolve this nor do I try to fit in. I believe women have greater qualities and I try to focus on the qualities I have been gifted with, instead of cribbing about the ones I don’t possess. Further, I also hire for complementary qualities.

Given the instability of the Indian market, what do you think are the opportunities for success in your work in the coming times?

Lekha - Yes, there is always opportunity for success, if we keep innovating. We need to change our services and products as per changing needs of customers and we at P-Mech are focused on this area. Hence, we will continue to stay relevant and grow.

What is the geographical expanse of your work? Do you plan to expand further? What would be your strategies to work in different geographies with different sectors in the coming years?

Lekha - We work across the globe like Asia i.e., India, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, UAE, Kuwait, Qatar and many more; Europe i.e., Germany, Netherlands, Italy etc.; Australia; North America. The way we plan to grow our business in these areas is by hiring local talent to represent us in their countries/areas, thereby increasing sales activities; and of course, by delivery our best quality and timely services to grow our credibility further.
