Working in male dominated field
It has been quite interesting to work & interact with super intelligent and sophisticated men. Now a days it is not difficult for women to co-exist with the male colleagues. One has to prove their value to get respect and don a professional attitude to get a job done. I feel that it was my strong sense of commitment and knowledge of the subject ie IT distribution business that made me successful in the business and helped Iris get more business as compared to my male counterparts.
Does a glass ceiling exist?
Women are getting the most prestigious jobs now. This only means that the glass has become thinner. But the glass still does exist. The glass ceiling that women once used to be able to look through but not pass is gone. We can see this as women are attaining top jobs of higher stature as MDs, CEOs, doctors, judges, leading scientists.
Advice to working women
- The first and foremost advice to the women who want to reach the Board Room of a Corporate Organisation is the right selection of Husband. Once that is right 80% of the war is won.
- Secondly, it is important to stay focused in what you want to become & achieve. Of course, there will be many bumps along the way, but don’t get distracted by the zigzags in the road. Vision and passion are very clear; if you believe in something, other people will too.
- A working woman must not forget about “me” time. Schedule a window of time for yourself, like any other appointment, if you have to. In the end, taking personal time will make you more productive at work.
