Confederation of Information Technology Associations (CONFED-ITA)

 We all know that an IT Association helps a lot in formulating policies, regulation to vendors, distributors, re-sellers and also helps in overcoming any hurdles faces by them. In every state, district, sub-district we find some or the other Association. But CONFED–ITA which was formed in the year 2006 is a consortium of 24 IT Trader’s Associations from Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry. This Association is a unit holding 1200 plus members and operating in 40 plus cities. with the established dealers from Chennai, Coimbatore, Dindigul, Erode, Kanyakumari, Karaikal, Karur, Kambakonam, Madurai, Nagapatinam, Nagercoil, Namakkal, Nilgiris, Palani, Pollachi, Pudukottai, Salem, Tanjore, Theni, Tirunelveli, Tirupur, Tiruvannamalai, Tiruvarur, Trichy, Tuticorin, Udumalpet and Vellore.

How it was formed?

In the year 2006 Microsoft conducted Anti-Piracy raids in Madurai where many association members were affected due to this activity. So, CAMS (Computer and Media Society) requested help from neighboring associations like Tiruvelveli (CDAT), Trichy (ACTT), and Coimbatore (CITA) to close down the shutters of all shops of members. After that they had various meetings. On 10th December 2006 they established this organization as “TANITA” and on the 4th meeting which was held at Pondicherry on 14th April in 2007 they decided to change the name since the name “TANITA” was (Tamil Nadu Information Technology Traders Association) more sounding as Tamil Nadu association, it was then renamed as Confed-ITA (Confederation of Information Technology Associations) and after Pondicherry’s joined the strength became more strong.

There are people who have helped building Confed-ITA and they are the pillars of this association like S.Karthikeyan, P.N.Prasad, S.Prakash, S.V.Selvasekaran, B.Kuberan, R.Muthiah Pillai, P.Shanmugasundaram, Ponnarasu, C.Balakrishnan, K.P.Mutharasu, G.Jeganathan, A.Muthuswamy, Ravikumar, Suresh Soni, G.V.Ramanan, B.Rajamanickam, M.V.Shankar, S.Muthukumar, H.Wilson, M.Kumaran, A.P.Lokesh, Nair, Emyes Subramaniam and C.S.N.Raja. All members of participating associations contributed in many ways helping to grow this Association into a success.

Activities and Events

Natarajan.M present president of the association said, “This association is a unit of many other associations like district association, town and cities. We are like a unit representing a bond of excellence. As a group we do lots of things like, together we stand up for an issue, represent togetherness and also have different events. This Association is a platform for vendors and services where we work as a group.” CONFED–ITA does different events Akshaya where they raise funds and they also have insurance policies for all the members and with that they also help many people through relief funds. They have community center in each of their location where families would put it to use to the maximum benefit, all kinds of extra-curricular activities for spouse and Children. “We have planned to set international public school. At the end we have disaster recovery where a family gets support from this association,” added Natarajan.M.

Natarajan.M later added, “We do many fun activities where all the families join cricket match where the winner gets 1 lakh cash prize. Also we organize family get together, blood donation camps and many more.”
