The day long program has been divided into four sessions namely, "Role of Standards in the ICT & Electronics Sector - Trends, Opportunities and Issues," "Compulsory Registration Order - Experience and way forward," "Market Surveillance, Quality Control and Inspection," "Anti-Counterfeiting and Consumer Awareness." The event aims to create awareness around internationally accepted best practices for ICT standards.

The idea behind the workshop is to create awareness around globally accepted best practices in ICT standards. Along with that the workshop will act as a space where government and industry can come together to address challenges in the development and implementation of ICT standards.

On this initiative Amar Babu, president, MAIT, said "Industry has always been appreciative of the Compulsory Registration Order as it has helped to ensure elimination of sub-standard and unsafe electronic goods from the Indian market. However, for Indian IT industry to compete with the International world there is a need for greater harmonization with global best practices".
