South Corporation on Monday launched a new application called "VBDC" (vector-borne disease control) to cover 16 vulnerable wards which have been identified on the basis of data indicating substantial mosquito breeding.
The civic body hopes that the move will help develop a micro plan to tackle the challenge of mosquitoes borne diseases like dengue and chikungunya.
The concept of the application was taken from similar initiative by Surat Municipal Corporation. Over 200 domestic breeding checkers (DBCs) were given tablets installed with new application.
Commissioner Puneet Goel said that the new app and tablets will help in developing micro locality based plan for the future and to save the residents from the menace of mosquitoes.
