After a scorching growth of 39 percent in FY'2007-08, Mumbai-based Rashi
Peripherals registered a sluggish hike of 6 percent last fiscal. But this was
more or less what the company had anticipated and provisioned for, and it
therefore did not come as a great surprise.
The company did not enter into a lot of vendor tie-ups in FY'2008-09, except
for Asus and ATI for the distribution of LCD monitors and graphic cards
respectively. In fact, for the first time in the history of Rashi, the company
discontinued distribution of a brand-Lenovo.
Apart from this, the company has also signed up with Microsoft in the current
fiscal, marking its foray into the software business as well. This year, it will
try to get into similar tie-ups for the software business, with which, it will
get a stronghold amongst solution providers (SPs) who cater to customers in the
enterprise segment.
Last fiscal, Asus was the largest contributing brand for Rashi followed by
HP.
62 percent of the company's revenues came from its components business, 30
percent from computing devices and eight percent from its networking brands. The
company is comfortable with this brand contribution matrix because the component
business allows it to offer various cross selling options to its channel
partners.

For the fifth year, Rashi conducted the Channel Business Forum-4, an annual
channel outreach program in 45 cities last year. The event consisted of live
simulation of home, office and gaming zones with the latest products on display.
This event helped it to reach out to 5,000 of its partners in the country. Rashi
opened two new branch offices in the last fiscal and will openanother six to
eight this year.
The company's maximum business came from the South, which contributed 32
percent to its overall revenues, followed by North and West which chipped in 26
percent each. This fiscal it hopes to push its growth up by 20 percent and get
back on track to its earlier growth rate.
