In partnership with the BMC, Mumbai, Uber is helping improve rider's voting experience by making commute to and from polling booths hassle-free and reliable.
On voting day, new users can get a flat Rs 75 off on two rides. Additionally, to encourage and educate voters about elections, we also conducted a special driver training session with the Deputy Collector, Election, Aparna Somani on February 14.
Post the training session, Aparna Somani, Deputy Collector, Election, Mumbai City said, “ The Election Commission is looking at new ways to reach a wider audience in order to help build awareness about upcoming elections.Through the driver partner training session conducted with Uber our aim is to not only educate the driver partners but also the citizens through word of mouth.”
The Deputy Municipal Commissioner (BMC Elections In-Charge), Bapu Pawar also expressed his support for this initiative, “Giving a discount for rides to and from polling booths is a good initiative by Uber and would certainly add to the voting percentage. We are happy that we are associated with such a good cause and looking forward for more such initiative from private firms that will help the voters”
Shailesh Sawlani, General Manager, Uber Mumbai said, “ We’re excited to team up with the the BMC to encourage the people of Mumbai to step out and vote as every single vote counts. We also thank the Election Commission for taking the time out and training our driver partners to help build awareness about the elections.
