Salesforce has recently announced its Center of Excellence in Hyderabad. Likely to be operational by Dec 2016, this 200,000 sq ft facility is planned to be one of the largest Salesforce tech centers globally. According to Arun Balasubramanian, country head sales for India, the center will employ about 1000 people by 2020 who will mostly be software engineers and customer support staff.
Speaking on the occasion, Jayesh Ranjan, IT Secretary, Telangana Govt, said "Salesforce is thinking of setting up a datacenter in India. We would be very happy to extend all support to open it here in Hyderabad." Ranjan also offered support to Salesforce to set up a campus in the city.
In India, like the rest of the world, Salesforce competes with the likes of Microsoft, Oracle, and SAP for the CRM market, said to be growing at over 20 percent in terms of revenues. "Globally we are growing at over 30 percent year on year, and we are seeing the same growth in India also", says Arun. "India will be one of our key growth drivers", he added. The overall Salesforce suit includes modules for sales, service, marketing, analytics, applications and IoT. In India they have offices in Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi and Hyderabad, but work significantly through systems integrators, ISVs and solution partners. The company, which has been operating in India since 2005, has got Snapdeal, PayTM, Inmobi, Urban Ladder among others.
