Salesforce teams up with Google to enhance productivity by Generative AI 1

Salesforce and Google announced an expansion of their strategic partnership to bring together Salesforce, and Google Workspace, a productivity tool, to drive productivity with Generative AI. This partnership will deliver new bidirectional integrations that allow customers to bring together context from Salesforce and Google Workspace, including Google Calendar, Docs, Meet, Gmail, and more, to power generative AI experiences across platforms.

By leveraging these integrations, users can effortlessly navigate various platforms via the collaborative efforts of Salesforce and Google Workspace's innovative AI assistants: Salesforce's Einstein Copilot and Google Workspace's Duet AI. With these tools at their disposal, customers gain the ability to harness their Salesforce account, contact, and opportunity data for the creation of personalized Google Slides and Docs. Additionally, they can seamlessly incorporate Google Meet summaries and context from Gmail and Google Calendar into Salesforce, facilitating record updates and workflow triggers. For instance, this synergy enables actions such as saving a signed contract to Salesforce and concluding an opportunity with a win-loss report generated within Google Docs.

In a joint effort, Salesforce and Google have collaboratively extended the capabilities of their generative AI assistant offerings. In an exciting milestone, each company will become the inaugural partner to seamlessly integrate with the other's recently unveiled third-party platforms.

Significance

Generative AI is reshaping the way businesses and people work. In fact, 77% of senior IT leaders say generative AI will help their organization serve customers faster, and 64% of businesses expect AI to increase their workforce’s productivity.

This expanded partnership will help drive increased productivity by providing the right data and context at the right time and unlocking generative AI benefits in the flow of work. With this integration, users will be able to:

Generate personalized content across Google Workspace and Salesforce:

Users will be able to generate personalized and contextual Workspace content, including emails in Gmail, content in Google Docs, and more, from Workspace or Salesforce, by seamlessly accessing relevant Salesforce information on prior meetings, customer interactions, and sales outcomes.

Keep Salesforce records up-to-date with context from Google Workspace:

Users will be able to leverage Google Workspace data to automatically keep Salesforce records up-to-date, increasing productivity and eliminating manual tasks — like moving an opportunity stage forward in Salesforce based on context from Gmail.

Drive automation at scale:

Users will be able to automate processes and eliminate the need for context switching by automatically generating interaction and meeting summaries, scheduling follow-ups assigning tasks, and more, based on context from Salesforce and Google Workspace. For example, after a successful sales call, a summary from Google Meet can trigger the assignment of tasks to owners in Salesforce, schedule follow-up meetings in Google Calendar, and move a deal stage to close.

Salesforce has taken the lead as the inaugural partner in integrating with Google Workspace's innovative Duet AI extensions framework, while Google Workspace reciprocates by becoming the first extensibility partner for Salesforce's newly introduced Einstein Copilot. This collaboration empowers Einstein Copilot to tap into pertinent context within Google Workspace, thereby enhancing workflows spanning across sales, service, marketing, commerce, and other domains. It's worth noting that both of these integrations are fortified by the stringent privacy and user data protections that are already firmly established within both Salesforce and Google Workspace ecosystems.

Broader AI momentum:

Beyond the integration of Google Workspace with Einstein Copilot, Google, and Salesforce are excited to unveil a new capability, allowing customers to seamlessly incorporate their Language Model Models (LLMs) deployed on Vertex AI, including Google's PaLM family of models, into the Einstein 1 Platform. This integration empowers users to create generative AI-driven experiences throughout the Customer 360 ecosystem. This ongoing initiative in the realm of data and AI builds upon partnerships previously announced earlier in the year, bringing together Salesforce Data Cloud, Google BigQuery, and Google Vertex AI. These collaborations enable businesses to harness the power of data and AI, establishing a more comprehensive customer data strategy and facilitating personalized customer experiences.
