Cisco announced that SITI Cable has selected Cisco DOCSIS 3.0 technology for the introduction of next-generation cable broadband services in the country.
With DOCSIS 3.0 technology, SITI Cable will be offering its subscribers Internet speeds of upto 100 Mbps, as well as high speed data networks and access to more content online compared with that offered by existing telecom Internet service providers (ISPs).
DOCSIS 3.0 is a key component of the Cisco IP next generation network (NGN) architecture. It can deliver download speeds of upto 300 Mbps per subscriber compared with 24 Mbps for the prevalent ADSL2+ technology. DOCSIS 3.0 also increases the upload capacity upto 100 Mbps compared with 1 Mbps provided by ADSL2+, enabling consumers to share content seamlessly and enjoy uninterrupted HD video calls across the globe.
SITI Cable is already providing Internet services in the eastern part of India and has now launched them in Delhi and NCR on the DOCSIS 3.0 platform. The company has 4.3 million digital cable TV subscribers and provides cable TV services in India’s 100+ cities and adjoining areas, reaching out to over 10 million viewers. It plans to roll out broadband services in other cities in the near future.
