In an interaction with DQ Channels for Success story segment, Alok Gupta, Managing Director, Cache Infotech Pvt. Ltd. shared his journey and experiences as an entrepreneur. 

How were your early days?  

In my early days, I was curious and eager to explore the world around me. I embarked on my journey of learning, absorbing knowledge from books, experiences, and the people I encountered. These formative years shaped my character, instilling values, and building the foundation for my future endeavors. My early days laid the groundwork for personal growth, resilience, and the pursuit of lifelong learning.

How did you begin your career?

After my graduation BE Computer science ( 1989-90). I joined as an intern in Quantm Systems for three months and then got a job in the same company. I worked there for 6 months.

How did you get into entrepreneurship?

After gaining valuable job experience, Fueled by a passion for the IT industry, I decided to channel my expertise and entrepreneurial spirit into starting my own IT service company.

One of my batch mates joined as a sales executive in Amkette, a prominent floppies manufacturer, and told me that Amkette is looking for a company that can look after their IT setup. At that point in time, I became a service engineer so I thought why not start my own business? Amkette was my first customer, marking a significant milestone in the journey of my fledgling company. Through dedication and commitment to delivering exceptional services, we gradually expanded our client base, adding more enterprise customers to our portfolio.

What are your professional achievements?

We have received awards and recognitions regularly in different events in the field of services and digital transformation.

What all challenges and roadblocks did you face in your career?

I started my business with zero investments so initially finance was the roadblock. Subsequently, as the business grew I managed to overcome this issue.

What are your success mantra and policies in life?

Set clear goals and define a roadmap to achieve them. Break down your goals into smaller, manageable tasks, and consistently work towards their accomplishment. Success is often the result of overcoming obstacles and setbacks. Learn from failures, adapt, and keep pushing forward.

Cultivate a positive mindset and surround yourself with supportive and like-minded individuals who uplift and inspire you. Continuously seek self-improvement and growth. Invest in personal and professional development, acquire new skills, and stay updated with industry trends.

Practice discipline and consistency. Establish productive habits, prioritize your time effectively, and stay committed to your chosen path, even when faced with distractions or challenges.

Advice to young entrepreneurs?

Believe in yourself and your vision. Trust your instincts and have confidence in your abilities to navigate challenges and achieve success. Surround yourself with a supportive network of mentors, advisors, and peers who can provide guidance, inspiration, and valuable insights. Embrace a growth mindset and continuously seek opportunities to learn and expand your skills. 

Stay focused and prioritize your goals. Set clear objectives, break them down into actionable steps, and stay committed to achieving them, even in the face of obstacles. Build strong relationships with customers and prioritize their satisfaction. Understand their needs, actively listen to their feedback, and constantly strive to exceed their expectations. A happy and loyal customer base is vital for long-term success.

Tell us about your personal life/hobbies and what you love to do most ?

We have two daughters and my wife is also in the IT business. The elder daughter has also joined our business and the younger one is studying Microbiology at Trinity College Dublin.

My hobbies are singing, watching OTT, and exploring new places. I love traveling the most.

What are your future plans, both professionally and personally?

Professionally, I aspire to advance in my career by taking on more challenging projects, acquiring new skills, and seeking opportunities for growth and leadership within my field. I plan to further develop my expertise and stay updated with the latest industry trends and technological advancements.

Personally, I aim to maintain a healthy work-life balance by prioritizing self-care, spending quality time with loved ones, and pursuing hobbies and interests that bring me joy and fulfillment. I intend to continue learning and expanding my knowledge beyond my professional field, exploring areas of personal interest and broadening my perspective.

Ultimately, my goal is to lead a fulfilling and purposeful life, making a positive impact both professionally and personally.
