Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) earned the being of the first Indian IT company to cross $1 billion in revenues. Company's systems integration business at Rs 85 crore, marked a growth of 6% in 2002-03. TCS settled at #25 in the Silver Club.
Despite tough times, TCS signed new deals with AT&T Wireless, Toyota Financial Services, Societé Generale and others.
Domestic revenues stood at Rs 369 crore, boosted by the SBI order for core-banking and trade finance. The project involved procurement, supply and installation of hardware and the core banking software, customization of the this software, implementation, rollout of the software at SBI branches, and training and support.
It also signed a deal with City Union Bank Limited for the implementation of a core banking and market risk solutions project for the bank, which operates from 124 offices spread across seven states and two union territories.
Nearly 81% of its revenues came in from application development and maintenance in traditional and e-business solutions.
TCS and CMC Computers also jointly bagged the the project for the integrated port management system from Adani Ports.
This called for computerization of bulk cargo needs for the port established in Mundra in Kutch district in Gujarat. It also set up a global development center for Washington-based AT&T Wireless at its Tidel Park Facility,
Chennai.
TCS also launched its operations in Uruguay, marked by the inauguration of its global development center in the country.
