Pune-based Unique Peripherals will house the Canon Xperience Zone, which acts
as a customer interface point. Here buyers can see Canon products and learn more
about their features before making their purchase decision. A formal
inauguration of this outlet will be announced shortly. Besides the Pune outlet,
another Canon Xperience Zone in the West is located in Mumbai.
“We have registered a 240 percent growth in Canon digital imaging products
in the past one year. This is why we have stopped selling all other brands and
are now focusing entirely on Canon,” said Sunil Gugale, Proprietor, Unique
Peripherals.
Earlier, the company was a regional distributor for Toshiba, WeP Peripherals,
Epson, HP and Wipro. Now it is concentrating only on Canon. The move by Unique
might lead to erosion of its topline, which stood at Rs 4 crore in 2007-08. But
the company is prepared to take the risk.
“We are aiming at a turnover of Rs 7 crore this fiscal. Though we would
have registered a much robust growth if we dealt with other brands too, but we
are confident of achieving this number with just Canon in our portfolio,”
Gugale added.
Canon opened its first Indian Xperience Zone at Gurgaon in 2006. The company
had then announced it plans to open one such store in every city every month,
which would showcase digicams, camcorders and photo printers.
Canon has a vast presence in the country with 13 retail chains, 51 stores, 31
flagship stores under Experience Zones and Digiclick Zones and over 1,200
dealers. Overall, the company's presence has expanded to 4,000 outlets and is
expected to increase it to 6,000 by Dec this year.
